Burning Star
To my gaming friends I’m known as Dr. Burning Sun but alas the Burning Sun cocktail already exists so we went real literal for this signature drink. For my Campari and Boulevardier lovers out there I present an alternative with a serious kick. This riff on the Fireball swaps out overproof rum for New Dawn’s smoother and richer 6-year old bourbon and kicks up the spice with a cinnamon-ginger syrup and for an extra bit of heat some Scrappy’s Firewater Tincture. What can we say, when we want it hot, we want it hot! Prepare yourself to be surprised, especially those on the fence about Campari because the sum of those ingredients is more than their individual parts. Once again we elevate New Dawn’s fruitiness, highlighting those cherry notes this time, while its rich notes of molasses smooth out the Campari’s bitterness. The cinnamon-ginger syrup removes mellows the Campari’s sweetness and amps up the New Dawn’s rye while the Firewater tincture moves this into sophisticated territory so you get a sweet hella spicy combo with hints of tropical fruit.
