The All Hallows’ Pour: A Cocktail for Remembrance and Celebration

We’ve spent October on the ancestors — the thinning veil, the tarot, the New Orleans spirit, the quiet act of setting a place for the ones who came before. This weekend is the crescendo.  Halloween weekend is here, the end of harvest season and the herald of winter.

Wherever you land — Samhain, Día de los Muertos, a quiet moment for the people you miss, or even costumes and candy — I’d love you to mark it with intention.

The signature: an All Hallows’ pour

Celebrating with costumes, candy, or trick or treating for the kids? If you’re looking for a cocktail to share with family and friends, we’ve got a few but here’s a cocktail to close the season on:

All Hallows’ Pour

2 oz of our 6-Year Cask Strength Bourbon

¼ oz dark honey syrup

2 dashes of chocolate or mole bitters for depth

2 dashes orange bitters for brightness

Stir over a large clear cube until it’s cold and silky. Top with a flamed orange slice. It’s rich and a little brooding perfect for Halloween festivities or a moment of remembrance.

A tarot draw for the weekend

Leaning towards a moment of remembrance? Set out the good glass. Pour the 6 or 10-Year at full cask strength. Make a toast to those you want to remember.  The ancestors don’t ask for much; but maybe offer a pour of New Dawn to those you know who would’ve enjoyed a glass.

Then pull a card from the Mixologist’s Tarot — one for the table, one for the season closing behind you. Let it be a moment of reflection before the noise of November.

The gift that gets remembered

Looking forward, the season of giving begins in earnest the moment this weekend ends, and the followers and friends who found us this month are exactly who I want to take care of first. A bottle of award-winning, additive-free, black-owned cask strength whiskey — or our 78-card Mixologist’s Tarot Deck — is a gift people keep. It has a story. It means something. That’s rare.

My email list gets access to exclusive offers and content. If you want to be first in line, that’s where to be.

Close the season. Open the next.Shop the finale — whiskey and the Mixologist’s Tarot Deck — and join the list for holiday early access and gift sets. [Join here.]
