Let’s not pretend everything is a-okay. Let’s acknowledge the world is A LOT right now, dare we say total bullshit, and offer up a cocktail that at least fits the mood. Giving a straight up finger to plain old lemonade and throwing in a bit of fire just to make the point that this cocktail is for the adults out there tired of adulting. Yes, it has bright sunny lemon notes but they are tempered by sultry limoncello and a healthy dose of smoked dried lemon peel and bourbon barrel. Don’t skip the fresh orange juice here or a juiced mandarin orange or you’ll get muddled flavors that just add to the sadness.

When the World Gives You Lemons, Burn it All Down

1 ½ oz New Dawn Bourbon

½ oz Averna

¾ oz limoncello

½ oz lemon juice

1 oz fresh squeezed orange juice

Cocktail smoker with dried lemon peel and bourbon barrel

Combine ingredients in a shaker with ice and shake till cold. Strain into a rocks glass over a large ice cube. Smoke.
