Cigar Pairing: Plasencia Cigars Alma Fuerte Sixto I

Definitely a favorite pairing that I keep coming back to, Plasencia Cigar's Alma Fuerte Sixto One. Highly recommend picking up a few sticks and a bottle of New Dawn's 6-year for these upcoming summer holidays, weddings, and whenever you need a bit of self-care.

This larger gauged cigar is a perfect way to cap off the end of the week. It's a lovely pairing for the 6-year bourbon really highlighting the brown sugar, citrus, and cherry notes of the 6-year and upping the sweetness just a touch to make it taste like the best old fashioned - and you know the 6 year isn't my go to for an old fashioned!

The cigar itself brings notes of toasted sugar, baking spices, and a lovely smokiness reminding me of the very best bbq. This is definitely a smooth and robust smoke that should be enjoyed slowly.

While the 10 year was also delicious with the Sixto I, highlighting flavors of smoked wood and amplifying citrus and pepper notes all around, the rich molasses and cherry of the 6-year is a far better pairing as the two play so well together with the bbq adjacent tasting notes.

Looking for a cocktail pairing? I had a hankering for a Forbidden Kiss and took a chance to try them together. The 6-year combined with a hit of absinthe allowed the champagne's butter notes to hold its own against the Sixto I while diluting none of the cigar’s flavor.

Let us know what you think when you finally try this pairing with New Dawn's 6 year or your favorite New Dawn cocktail.
