Bourbon and Books: Hench

Forget hot girl summer, this summer has me wanting to embrace villainy, but you know villainy for good. Is that even a thing?

Hench is a whips-mart anit-superhero tale featuring the most unexpected of villains with perhaps the most diabolical of superpowers - research acumen and mastery of excel spreadsheets. Enter Anna, a lowly data analyst for a mid-level villain who literally gets shoved aside during an encounter with the so-called super hero. Badly, injured she weaponizes her data science skills on behalf of THE worse of the worst supervillains to calculate the human cost of disaster all in the name of justice for the everyday people.

Clear you’re calendar because you’re not going to want to put this one down. Billed as cross between “The Boys” and “My Year of Rest and Relaxation” I would like to think this is far funnier, clever, and smarter than either. At minimum it will have you considering the phrase “For the Greater Good” in a whole new light - because whose “good” is really “greater?”

Expect writing with delicious detail that will have you holding your breath as the characters navigate some harrowing situations and exchange lively and heartfelt banter. Truly a book for those obsessed with super heroes and those who think maybe they aren’t all they are cracked up to be.

Pairing this witty romp with a Garden of Good and Evil because you'll definitely be questioning if this is the time for YOUR villain era.
